Clock Jobber's Handybook

Another hundred-year-old-plus gem from Hasluck's "Work" series!

"A practical manual on cleaning, repairing and adjusting: embracing information on the tools, materials appliances and processes employed in clockwork. -with upwards of one hundred illustrations."

Chapters include various clocks described, pendulums: the controllers, escapements commonly used, deWyck's and German clocks, examining and cleaning an eight-day clock, repairing an eight-day clock, French timepieces, and lathes and turning appliances.

Is this the greatest clock book ever written? Far from it. But it IS a fun, detailed, informative little book from 1889. Worth having.

I keep promising myself that one of these days I'll build a gear cutter and build a wooden verge-and-foliot clock (deWyck) like those out of the Black Forest 400 years ago. One of these days. Another excellent book by PN Hasluck. His little books never fail to be interesting. But you always wish good books were bigger. This is one of them. Great ideas.
