Boats, Airplanes, and Kites

Here you get a manual written by a shop teacher during the Great Depression.

"This book is intended primarily as a practical work of instruction for the typical American boy who delights in the making of model boats, model airplanes, and kites, be it during his spare time, during the long summer months, or in the school shop during the school year. It is also intended for the manual-arts instructor..."

You get plans for six different boats from a 12" sailboat and 38" sailing yacht to a 32" and a 38" speed boat. You get plans for seven different simple airplanes, and five different kites from a French war kite, to a box-kite with wings. Other chapters deal with sailing, kite tournaments, simple motors for boats and more.

You get step-by-step instruction, photographs of unusual steps such as pouring a lead keel weight, and many pages of dimensioned drawings. This is a book aimed at boys, and judging from how worn some of the pages are, it HAS BEEN used.

A great book for boys. And since we all know you never grew up, that means you as well. Geez... scale up one of the boat plans. Next time you threaten to put your mother-in-law on a slow boat to China, she'll know you mean it!

Heavily illustrated. Fun to page through. You don't gotta read very well to enjoy this. A book I knew should be reprinted as soon as I saw it. Order a copy. You'll like it. 8-1/2 x 11 softcover 132 pages
